“Dark Mode” on Reddit, previously known as “Night Mode,” is a helpful feature that changes the background to black, and the text, icons, and other elements to white. This light-on-dark color scheme alleviates eye strain and prolongs your device’s battery life.
The step-by-step guide shows you how to enable dark mode on Reddit web and the app.
Enable dark mode on the Reddit website
- Log in to your Reddit account and click your profile icon on the top right.
Click your profile icon. - Click the Dark Mode toggle in the “View Options” section.

- Open the Reddit app and tap your profile icon on the top right.
Tap your profile icon. - Scroll down and tap the moon icon next to Settings.

Change the dark mode theme
You can change the theme of dark mode only on the Reddit app.
- Tap Settings and go to the Dark mode section.
Scroll to the Dark Mode section - Tap Dark theme and select Midnight (AMOLED) if you want a pitch black theme or Night if you want a brighter dark theme.
