Not every video you make on TikTok will be ready to be published immediately. TikTok allows users to take videos now and save them as drafts. You will then be able to go back and edit the video as you like before publishing. Let’s dive into how you can edit a draft on TikTok.
How to Edit a Draft
- Tap on your Profile icon to go to your Profile page.
Tap on your Profile Icon. - There you’ll see all your posted videos. The ones with “Drafts” written on them will contain your drafted videos. Tap on that option.
Tap on the Drafts section. - This opens your Drafts folder. Tap on the video you want to edit.
Tap on the video you want to edit. - From there, you can edit the draft as necessary. This includes shooting more video and adding effects, filters, or captions. Click Next when you’re ready to publish your draft.
Edit the video.
How to Save a Draft on TikTok
- Tap the + icon in the middle of the lower icon menu.
Tap the + icon. - Tap the record button to begin filming as you usually would.
Tap the record button. - Once finished with your recording, tap Next.
Tap Next. - On the Post page, tap the icon that says Drafts. This will automatically save your video to the Drafts folder.

I’m Susan, the founder of Learn Social Media. As a caregiver I regularly work with vulnerable groups, such as with the elderly in nursing homes, and children with disabilities in schools. During my work, I noticed these groups struggle to keep up with new technologies.
When it comes to social media, this often led to feelings of isolation and “being left out”. The thrill I experienced creating TikTok dance videos with children with disabilities, or helping elderly folks reconnect with old friends and loved ones on Facebook, is what inspired me to launch this project.
