Reddit Content Policy
Reddit content policy is a list of rules governing each subreddit that apply to everyone on Reddit. If you find a subreddit violating one or more of these rules, you can report them to Reddit.
Here are the rules all subreddits must abide by:
- Reddit must be free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence.
- Subreddits and users must not engage in content manipulation, which includes vote manipulation, spamming, subscriber fraud, or ban evasion.
- Redditors must not instigate harassment by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information without consent.
- No posts should include sexual or suggestive content involving minors.
- Impersonation of an individual or an entity is not allowed.
- Redditors must label content such as graphic or offensive appropriately.
- Redditors must avoid posting or facilitating illegal transactions.
How does Reddit enforce its content policy?
To enforce its rules, Reddit can:
- Ask the subreddit moderator to stop breaking its content policy.
- Temporarily or permanently ban the account.
- Add restrictions to the account or subreddits.
- Remove content.
- Ban subreddits.
Things to know before you report a subreddit
- You can’t report a subreddit on the Reddit app. You’ll be redirected to log in to your mobile browser to report the subreddit.
- Reddit doesn’t accept screenshots as proof since screenshots can be manipulated.
How to Report a Subreddit on desktop
- Log in to your Reddit account and go to Reddit’s Submit a report page.
Submit a report page. - Report the subreddit for spam/abuse or other issues. You’ll further be asked to select one of the reasons from the dropdown for your report.
Select an appropriate reason. - You’ll then be asked to submit a link or comment to the post.
You can also add an optional message detailing the issue, such as why you think the subreddit should be banned or the content needs to be removed from Reddit.Add link and additional information. - Click Submit.

How to Report a Subreddit without logging in
If you don’t have a Reddit account, you can submit a help request to report a Subreddit:
- Go to Reddit’s Submit a request form.
Visit Reddit Help Request form. - Select Report Content Policy Violation from the dropdown list of What do you need assistance with?.
Select Report Content Policy Violation. - Add your email address.
- Tick the two checkboxes for Information for Using this form and Have you read our content policy.
- Select the appropriate option for Policy Violation, such as “Hate” “Personal information” or “Subreddit ban evasion.”
Enter your email address, tick the two checkboxes, and select Policy Violation. - Add Subject of inquiry, Details of inquiry, and Attachments. Elaborate on your case and add relevant links or attachments.
